Indian relief case files, 1953-1963. [microform]

Case files on Native Americans receiving relief from Shawano County. Content of the files varies and may include applications for drought relief, work relief, or non-resident relief or combinations of relief services. Typically included are records of case worker home visits, family budgets, applications for Work Projects Administration and Civilian Conservation Corps employment, background information on applicants, and case work correspondence. Some case files also include relevant court proceedings, newspaper clippings, and personal correspondence. Most files include an official authorization that the applicant is eligible for relief under Wis. Stat. 49.046. Many of the applicants were considered non-residents because they lived on the reservation which later became Menominee County.
